Our website address is: https://soundbox.ok.ubc.ca. The content of the SoundBox collection website is maintained by a team of professors and research assistants based out of the University of British Columbia (Okanagan).
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form (name, email, website, and comment content), and the browser user agent string to help spam detection. This site also uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed with Akismet.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
We have removed IP addresses from being stored alongside associated comments.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. You do not have to opt-in to cookies in order to publish a comment. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites

Analytics
We use Independent Analytics to record visits to this site, but do not use cookies, share data with third parties, or save personally identifiable information. To count unique visitors and collect geographical data, our analytics uses your IP address to get an approximate location, encrypts the IP using a series of techniques, and saves the anonymized ID to recognize future visits. If you use a VPN, the IP address provided by your VPN will be used.
Independent Analytics is a privacy-focused alternative to Google Analytics. Analytics data captured from Independent Analytics is stored on the same server of the SoundBox collection website, rather than being stored on a third-party server.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us via the comments form (name, email, and website). You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you that is received.
